Jesse James Hampton, 1951-2023

Jesse James Hampton, 72, of Warren, passed away December 1, 2023. Born February 16, 1951, he was a son of Ella Bea Hampton and the late Willie M. Hampton. 

Jesse graduated from Hermitage High School. Shortly after, he served in the United States Army as a motor transport operator and as a MP. After fulfilling his duties in the military, he began a career within the logging industry. He worked for over 15 years in this industry which would include Odell Pickett Pulpwood, L&P Logging and Burt Logging.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Johnsville, where he served as a Deacon until his health began to fail.

Jesse was the matriarch of his family whom he loved with all his heart, including his doggie, Braxon. His humble attitude and joking personality would light up any room he entered. He was also a devoted and loyal fan of the Los Angeles Lakers.

He was also preceded in death by his first love, Mary Ann Marks (Hampton), five siblings, Charley Hampton, Elgin Hampton, Willie Floyd Hampton, Rose Mary Hampton, Ella Mae Webb; his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Jesse is survived by his mother, Ella Bea Hampton; children, Monica Domineck, Carla Marks, Demetrish Butler, Ja’Marcus Hampton; bonus daughters, Kimberly and Chasity Hines; grandchildren, Tiffany Domineck, Shakilah Marks, Trinesha Wheeler, Cadasha Marks-Hines, Shykiese Marks, La’Metria Marks, Lillian Davis, Shannon Boney, Fantasya Allen; siblings, Chris Hampton (Carolyn), Patricia Williams (Charley), Janice Cook (Dennis); brother-in-law, Shelton Webb Jr.; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was December 10 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Warren with Rev. James Carroll officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery, Johnsville. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
