Margaret Elaine McDougald, age 81 passed away peacefully at her home in New Edinburg, AR on December 17, 2023. She was born on September 19, 1942 in Tinsman, AR to the late Edward Speer and Vivian McCann Speer.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Hamilton, husbands, Jack Hopson and Bobby McDougald, and longtime friend, JC Rogers.
She is survived by her son, Chris Hopson and wife Melissa of New Edinburg, AR, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Elaine was a faithful member of Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined in 2021. She loved worshiping her Lord and Savior and fellowshipping with her church family. Elaine had a long career in banking. She worked at the Bank of New Edinburg, Pine State Bank in Kingsland and retired at First State Bank in Warren. She made many friends throughout her career and loved helping people. Anyone that knew Elaine knew she was a kind and caring person and would always think of others before herself. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and taking care of her flowers. She also loved traveling and most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank her church family and friends for all their prayers and would like to especially thank all of her caregivers for the wonderful care they gave her over the past 2 ½ years.
Funeral service was held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Frazer’s Funeral Home. Burial was in Freehouse Cemetery in New Edinburg, AR by Frazer’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.
