Warren Rotary Club receives presentation from BCMC Outpatient Therapy Department

The Rotary Club of Warren met for its weekly program Tuesday, Dec. 5 inside First Methodist Church. The group heard from Warren Junior Rotarian Jayden Ridgell to begin the program with Murphie Wilkinson scheduled to speak next week. Rotarian Rev. Dixon Platt then presented the program of Shelby Gibson and Hailey Gammel from the Bradley County Medical Center Outpatient Therapy Department. Gibson is over the outpatient portion, while Gammel handles inpatient services. The pair spoke about the services they provide which include physical, occupational, and speech therapy in both outpatient and inpatient settings. They highlighted a few services including functional dry needling for physical therapy and a modified barium swallow study for speech therapy, both of which are only available in Warren locally. The two also talked about the Swing Bed Program at BCMC that allows patients to come back to Warren for a swing bed if they are not ready to go home yet. The therapy department works with them to get them back to full strength and patients even have the option to keep them for their therapy needs should they need home health services through BCMC. They also handed out some brochures and flyers with more information before answering a few questions to end the presentation.
