Tunica Chapter of Arkansas Archaeological Survey plans business meeting to chart future course following loss of key members

In a solemn announcement Wednesday, the Tunica Chapter of the Arkansas Archaeological Survey disclosed plans for a crucial business meeting scheduled for Friday, January 12, at 5:00 PM. The meeting, to be held at the archaeology lab on the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) campus in Visual & Performing Arts, Room #117, is aimed at determining the future direction of the chapter following the unexpected loss of its most active members, the Bragg Family, at the end of December.

The Bragg Family, known for their unwavering commitment and contributions to the Tunica Chapter, played a pivotal role in the society’s activities. Their absence has left a void that the remaining members are now tasked with filling.

The business meeting will serve as a platform for members to collectively brainstorm and strategize on how to navigate the challenges posed at the moment. The session is open to all interested parties, including current members and individuals interested in joining the Tunica Chapter.

For those planning to attend the meeting, the location has been set at the archaeology lab on the UAM campus, with specific details available at Visual & Performing Arts, Room #117. In case of any difficulty in locating the venue, attendees are encouraged to call the office line at 870-460-1290 for assistance.

During the meeting, the chapter will also be accepting dues for membership renewal or new enrollments. The fee structure is as follows: $5 for students, $10 for individuals, $15 for families, $100 for lifetime individual membership, and $150 for lifetime family membership. The dues cover chapter membership and do not include membership fees for the statewide society.

The chapter is hopeful that the collective efforts of its members will pave the way for a new chapter in its history, as it continues to contribute to the broader mission of the Arkansas Archaeological Society.
