Warren Women drop game at Monticello

In a difficult battle on the road, the Warren Lumberjacks Women’s Basketball team suffered their first conference loss of the season, falling to Monticello with a final score of 51-32. The Lumberjacks, entering the game with a 1-5 overall record, faced Monticello in their inaugural 8-4A Conference clash of the year.

1st Quarter: Warren Leads Early

The game kicked off with Warren taking control early on, though struggling to convert opportunities into points. Livi McKinney secured the first bucket for the Lumberjacks. Charles Wardlaw’s steal and transition bucket minutes later helped Warren maintain a narrow 7-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.

2nd Quarter: Monticello Takes Control

As the second quarter unfolded, Warren faced a scoring drought, allowing Monticello to seize the lead at 9-7 with 4:16 remaining in the half. The Billies capitalized on their momentum, leading Warren 17-11 at halftime.

3rd Quarter: Warren Battles Scoring Drought

The scoring struggles continued for Warren in the third quarter, with Allyson Calbert finally breaking the drought by sinking a three-pointer around the 4:35 mark.

4th Quarter: Late Efforts Fall Short

In the final quarter, Bailey Miller contributed four points, and Wardlaw added a late three. However, Warren fell short, ultimately losing to Monticello with a final score of 51-32.

With this defeat, the Lumberjacks’ overall record drops to 1-6, and they are now 0-1 in conference play. Looking to bounce back, the team will return to action on Friday night as they host Stuttgart at Lumberjack Arena.
