Winter storm blankets Bradley County

WARREN, Ark. – Bradley County found itself under the grip of a winter storm that commenced on Sunday, January 14, and has persisted into Monday, leaving a blanket of snow and sleet across the region.

In and around Warren, several inches of a snow and sleet mixture have accumulated, leading to significant disruptions in daily life. The streets of Warren are mostly covered, making travel hazardous for residents. While a few brave souls have ventured out in their cars, traffic is moving at a slow pace due to the road conditions.

Warren Mayor Gregg Reep provided updates on the situation, indicating that he had discussions with Police Chief Shaun Hildreth. The police force is actively patrolling the town, ensuring public safety. Mayor Reep emphasized that the streets, while hazardous, are passable to some extent. Despite this, he strongly encouraged residents to stay home if possible, considering the risky driving conditions.

City street crews are working diligently to improve road conditions, deploying sand where necessary to enhance traction. Additionally, the State Highway Department is actively involved in addressing the highways that run through Warren, striving to ensure safe passage for motorists.

The winter storm has prompted the cancellation of numerous businesses, schools, and events scheduled for Tuesday. The Warren School District has officially announced its closure for Tuesday. All of Warren’s basketball games for Tuesday evening have been canceled as well.
