Bradley County commences new dirt work on Cedar Street Property

WARREN, Ark. – Bradley County’s Cedar Street property, located just south of the Bradley County Courthouse, saw the initiation of a new round of dirt work by county crews on Tuesday afternoon, February 20, 2024. Danny Adair from the Bradley County Road Department says efforts are underway to clear sand from the westernmost section of the block, which had been temporarily deposited following the demolition of previous structures on the site. Once the sand is removed, crews plan to fill the area with gravel, topped with dark ground rock to match the central portion of the property seamlessly.

According to County Judge Klay McKinney, time constraints had prevented the completion of the western side of the block in time for last year’s Pink Tomato Festival. Now, with the availability of county resources, the focus is on rendering the entire property functional. McKinney emphasized that adding a road milling top layer will facilitate vehicle access, including for food trucks, enhancing the space’s usability.

In conjunction with the physical developments, Judge McKinney called upon County residents to participate in an ongoing survey aimed at gathering community input on desired features and a potential name for the forthcoming undetermined development to be situated south of the courthouse. The survey, accessible by clicking here, presents respondents with choices regarding the venue’s name and features, including seating preferences and the necessity of a permanent stage structure. With over 500 responses already received, McKinney expressed optimism in reaching a total of 1,000 residents’ inputs to ensure the venue caters effectively to the community’s needs. Two other previous surveys were conducted. Options for the block were drawn down from those responses, and the survey now available will help the Committee working on the project further isolate what will eventually become of the site.

The survey represents a crucial opportunity for residents to shape the future of entertainment in Bradley County. All are encouraged to participate by accessing the provided link and sharing their perspectives on this pivotal project.
