James Earl David, 1952-2024

James Earl Davis, 71, of Banks, passed away January 27, 2024. Born May 18, 1952, to the late Sinkfield and Lula Mae Davis. He attended Hermitage and Banks Public Schools, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Banks, AR.

James was united in holy matrimony in 1996 to Beverly Rene’ Belin. To this union two children were born. He became a sergeant in the United States Army, where he served for 6 years. He worked for Empire Gas Company for several years and received the nickname “The Gasman.” Later, he worked for General Dynamics and retired after 30 years. He loved basketball, fishing and playing dominoes.

He was also preceded in death by seven siblings, Hesteen Brown, Jean Gilbert, Dorothy Talley, Janie Washington, Dennis Davis, Bea Arthur Davis and Bennie Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Rene’ Davis; children, Candice (DeAndre), Mario Davis (Chenae), Tim Davis (Jennifer), Takeisha Davis, Lakeisha Davis; stepson, Kalani Gannaway; siblings, Mary Marshall, Essie Hines (William), Helen Yon, Mildred Pickett, Zettie Davis (Annie), Ulysses Davis/Brenetta Childs; thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was held February 10 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Banks. Burial was in Hall Cemetery, Banks with military honors.  Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home.
