Joe Hammons retires after 43 Years of dedicated service at PotlatchDeltic

WARREN, Ark. – In a heartfelt farewell Thursday, Joe Hammons bid adieu to a remarkable 43-year career at PotlatchDeltic, marking the end of an era in the Arkansas timber industry. The veteran saw filer commenced his journey with the company fresh out of Warren High School in 1980 and has since become a respected figure in the field, tracing the footsteps of his father, Jack Hammons, who himself retired from Bradley Sawmill.

Joe’s illustrious career path within the PotlatchDeltic family showcases his commitment and diverse expertise. He initiated his career at the Bradley Yard before progressing to the Bradley Planter Mill. His skills led him through the Southern Shipping Department and Southern Dry Kilns, where he honed his craft. In 1996, he took on the role of Saw Filer at the Southern Sawmill, a position that would later see him ascend to the esteemed position of Head Saw Filer at PotlatchDeltic in 2020.

The retirement celebration unfolded on Thursday, February 1, 2024, where Joe Hammons was surrounded by family, co-workers, and friends, commemorating his last day at PotlatchDeltic. Among the attendees was Joe’s 94-year-old mother, Sue Hammons, adding a touching familial element to the event.

Coincidentally, Joe’s retirement celebration aligns with his 62nd birthday on Friday, February 2. The timing adds an extra layer of significance to this milestone, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the seasoned saw filer.
