Warren edges Hamburg to secure a top three finish in Conference 8-4A

HAMBURG, Ark. – Concluding a week that saw them embark on two road trips, the Warren Lumberjacks secured a hard-fought seven-point victory over the Hamburg Lions on Friday night, prevailing in come-from-behind fashion with a final score of 68-61 and guaranteeing themselves no worse than a third-place finish in the 8-4A Conference standings with two games left to play.

1st Quarter

The game commenced with Neon’dre Thomas putting Warren on the scoreboard first with a free throw. However, the Lions swiftly responded with a barrage of three-pointers, setting the tone for the quarter. Despite efforts from David Jordan, who led Warren with 5 points in the early minutes, Hamburg managed to establish a lead, ending the quarter with a score of 18-12 in their favor.

2nd Quarter

Hamburg extended their lead to 9 points early in the second quarter, capitalizing on their proficiency from beyond the arc. Warren struggled initially to find their shooter’s touch, but managed to claw their way back into the game. Hamburg led by as much as 12 points before Antonio Jordan and David Jordan spearheaded the Jacks’ resurgence, with a late surge from Neon’dre Thomas tying the game at 33-33. However, Hamburg still held a slim lead of 37-36 going into halftime.

3rd Quarter

The third quarter saw Warren step up their game, with Antonio Jordan leading the charge. The Warren stand-out posted 9 points in the third quarter alone. Despite facing foul trouble, Warren managed to narrow the gap and eventually tok the lead with a score of 52-48 going into the final quarter.

4th Quarter

Colton Steen and Bleyze Fellows provided crucial contributions off the bench for Warren as they navigated through foul trouble. Tramond Miller emerged as a key player in the fourth quarter, scoring a vital 8 points and sinking crucial free throws to secure the win for Warren with a final score of 68-61.

Tramond Miller was Warren’s second leading scorer vs. Hamburg Friday with 22 points.

With this victory, Warren improves their overall record to 10-4 and maintains a strong 9-3 standing in Conference 8-4A.
