Warren falls to LR-Mills in Regional Tournament semis; set to face Magnolia in consolation game Saturday

NASHVILLE, Ark. – In a heated match-up at the 4A South Regional Basketball Tournament, the Warren Lumberjacks clashed against well known 8-4A Conference foe Little Rock-Mills in the second round, ending in a decisive victory for the Comets by the final of 78-50 in what was the third meeting this season between the two teams.

1st Quarter

The game kicked off with Warren displaying early promise as Antonio Jordan sunk a two-point jumper, setting the tone for the quarter. However, Mills quickly responded, scoring six unanswered points to take the lead. Despite Warren’s efforts, the Comets’ relentless defense caused some offensive setbacks for the orange and black. Antonio Jordan’s impressive performance, including a dunk, helped Warren stay within reach, with Tramond Miller’s buzzer-beating shot ensuring they trailed narrowly, 16-14.

2nd Quarter

Warren aimed to turn the tide, tying the game early in the second quarter. Yet, Mills surged ahead, establishing a nine-point lead with five minutes to go before the break. Warren’s David Jordan showcased resilience with a strong drive to the basket amidst tight defense. However, Mills capitalized on late opportunities, heading into halftime with a commanding 38-24 lead.

3rd Quarter

Despite Warren’s efforts to rally, Mills maintained control, dominating the boards and extending their lead to 61-37 by the end of the third quarter.

4th Quarter

The final quarter saw Warren fighting to narrow the gap, with Bleyze Fellows and Tramond Miller contributing points. However, Mills’ lead proved insurmountable, sealing their victory at 78-50.

Up Next

With their overall record now at 13-5, the Warren Lumberjacks will compete in a consolation game in the Regional Tournament to determine final seeding heading into the 4A State Tournament next week. Their next challenge awaits them on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Nashville, where they will face off against Magnolia.
