Kids First of Warren to celebrate Arkansas Children’s Week

WARREN, Ark. – In a celebration of Arkansas Children’s Week, Kids First of Warren is gearing up for a special event scheduled for the week of April 8-12th. The renowned pediatric day health care program for children with special health care needs, Kids First, has invited Mayor Reep to deliver a proclamation during their Open House festivities.

Founded as Arkansas’s first pediatric day health care program, Kids First has been serving children with special health care needs for over 30 years. Warren, one of the eleven locations across the state, has played a pivotal role in providing care to children in the region.

The journey of Kids First in Warren began in 1993, operating out of a small yellow house. Despite humble beginnings, the clinic’s commitment to serving the community quickly gained momentum. With the support of the Bradley County Medical Center Board and the administrator, Mr. Harry Stevens, the clinic flourished. Initially serving just two children on its opening day, the clinic soon expanded its reach to accommodate the needs of 30 children.

As demand grew, so did the need for a larger space. Thirteen years later, in May 2006, the clinic realized a long-time dream with the inauguration of a new building. Thanks to the unwavering support of the Bradley County Medical Center Board and Mr. Harry Stevens, the new facility boasted six treatment rooms, administrative offices, a kitchen, and a spacious indoor playroom.

Despite facing challenges, such as a flood in December 2022, Kids First remained resilient. With the assistance of Immanuel Baptist Church in Warren, the clinic reopened in a temporary location. In June 2023, Kids First returned to its permanent location on Bragg Street, where it continues to serve over 30 children daily.

The upcoming celebration during Arkansas Children’s Week not only marks a milestone for Kids First but also highlights the unwavering dedication of the Warren community to its children’s health and well-being. With Mayor Reep’s proclamation, the event promises to be a testament to the enduring spirit of compassion and support that defines Kids First of Warren.
