Lady Jacks fall short in pair of Wednesday evening games to Lady Lions

WARREN, Ark. – After being rained out on Tuesday, the Lady Jacks hosted the Hamburg Lady Lions in a doubleheader.

In the 1st inning of game one, the Lady Jacks held the Lady Lions to a 1-2-3 inning. Lady Jack Haven Johnson had a 1-out single. Ember Johnson drew a base on balls, and Charlee Wardlaw was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Unfortunately, the Lady Jacks left the bases loaded.

The batter in the top of the 2nd led off with a single and was thrown out by Haven Johnson trying to stretch it into a double. That was it for Hamburg. Warren went down in order. The game remained scoreless after 2 innings of play.

After a lead-off walk, an infield single, and a single, Hamburg was able to score 4 runs on 2 Lady Jack miscues. Breize Fellows led off the bottom of the inning with a double. Haven Johnson followed with a walk. Warren left them stranded. Warren trailed 4-0 after 3 innings.

Hamburg was able to score 3 more runs to push their lead to 7-0. Natalie Hargrave had a 1-out single but was left stranded.

The Lady Jacks held Hamburg scoreless in the top of the 5th inning. In the bottom of the 5th, Fellows and Haven Johnson walked. Ember Johnson had an RBI single. Both Johnson sisters scored on passed balls. Wardlaw walked, and Miller singled. Wardlaw scored on a passed ball. Byrd’s sacrifice scored Miller. Warren scored 5 runs to cut Hamburg’s lead to 7-5.

Warren once again held the Lady Lions scoreless in the 6th. Warren loaded the bases. Paige Byrd singled, but a blown call at the plate cost Warren a run and ended the inning.

Hamburg scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th. Warren was unable to mount a comeback, and Hamburg won 10-5.

For the Lady Jacks, Natalie Hargrave went 3-4, and Ember Johnson went 2-3.

In the second game of this twilight doubleheader, Warren got Breize Fellows and Ember Johnson on base but was unable to score any runs. A solid Lady Jack defense held Hamburg to a 1-2-3 inning.

Natalie Hargrave picked up where she left off in game one with a single. Paige Byrd also singled, but Warren failed to score. Hamburg loaded the bases and scored a run on a hit. A great throw from Natalie Hargrave cut down the second runner at the plate. Hamburg took a 1-0 lead.

Haven Johnson drew a leadoff walk. Following a flyout, Charlee Wardlaw singled. Natalie Hargrave then had an RBI single to tie the game. Baylee Miller scored on a passed ball to give Warren a 2-1 lead. The Lady Lions went away peacefully in the bottom of the 3rd.

With two outs in the top of the 4th inning, Haven Johnson singled and stole 2nd base but was left on base. The Lady Jack defense, paired with some timely pitching from Raeleigh Milton, bailed Warren out of a jam in the bottom of the 4th.

Warren went down 1-2-3 in the top of the 5th. Hamburg was able to score a run to tie the game at 2-2.

The Lady Jacks were unable to put any runs on the board in the top of the 6th. Hamburg used a single and a triple to take a 4-2 lead.

Hamburg swept the doubleheader 4-2.

Natalie Hargrave went 2-3 in the game.
