The Lumberjacks are now 13-4 overall on the season and more importantly are 7-2 in league play to remain atop the 4A-8 Conference standings. Star City is now 4-11 on the year and 2-7 in conference games.

The Orange and Black struck first when Nathan Spears drove home Jackson Denton, who hit a one-out triple, with a groundout. The two-out rally began with hits by Ervin Rivera, Bryson Harris, and a walk by Ren Reep. AJ Jordan then singled home Rivera for the second run and back-to-back walks by Jude Cathey and Tucker McDiarmid scored two more runs. Kolby Pope capped the scoring with a two-run single to push the Warren lead to 6-0 before the Bulldogs even came to the plate.

Star City managed to get one back on a RBI double in the bottom of the first and the score remained 6-1 through a scoreless second inning. However, the Jacks scored three runs in the third with the help of a couple errors to move in front 9-1. Warren then scored two more in the fourth frame on a passed ball and RBI single by Pope to make the score 11-1. The Bulldogs would not score the rest of the way to clinch the 11-1 run-rule victory for Warren in five innings.

Rivera put together another solid effort on the mound with one run allowed on three hits and four strikeouts with no walks. The top three hitters in the Lumberjacks lineup (Pope, Denton, and Spears) recorded two hits each with Pope driving in a team-high three runs. Denton and Spears tallied the team’s two extra-base hits on the night with a triple and double, respectively. Jordan scored a pair of runs and stole two bases, while Reep crossed the plate twice as well. McDiarmid was officially 0-for-0 at the plate with a team-best three walks.

This game between Star City and Warren was bumped up to today with the Jacks canceling its non-conference matchup with Maumelle Charter that was originally scheduled. The Lumberjacks return to action Thursday with another conference tilt at Hamburg. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
