Rotary Club hears presentation from President-Elect Harvey

The Rotary Club of Warren met for the first time in a few weeks Tuesday, April 2 at First Methodist Church. Rotarian and President-Elect Dana Harvey spoke to the crowd on a couple of topics. First, Harvey touched on MId-America PETS (President Elect Training Seminar), which she had to attend as she prepares to take over as President of the club in July. She stated that it was a wonderful experience and all of the speakers were excellent. It also gave her a chance to connect with other President-Elects, which included districts from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas. Harvey then transitioned to what the Southeast Arkansas Human Development Center, where she is Assistant Superintendent, was doing to prepare for the upcoming eclipse. Much of Arkansas is scheduled to be in totality of the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8 so the state is expecting a bunch of tourists in Arkansas. While Warren is not in the path of totality, there are concerns that the state’s roads and infrastructure could be congested. So the HDC has plans in place to ensure all of their residents are safe and can access emergency services if needed. Harvey answered a few questions about each topic to round out the meeting.
