Lady Jacks battle, but fall to Nashville in Regional Softball Tournament to finish fantastic season

After being rained out on the opening day of the 4A Regional Tournament on Thursday, the Lady Jacks faced the number one seed from the 7-4A, the Nashville Lady Scrappers on Friday in Nashville, who also happened to be the hosting school for the Tournament. It was the Lady Jacks’ first time in the Regional Tourney since 2019.

Warren led off the top of the 1st inning by going 3 up, 3 down. The Lady Jacks shut down Nashville in the bottom of the inning.

In the top of the 2nd inning, the Lady Jacks’ Natalie Hargrave singled with 2 outs. Presley Reep followed with an RBI double to give Warren a 1-0 lead. Nashville used a base on balls and 2 hits to take the lead 2-1.

The Lady Jacks’ Haven Johnson had a 2-out double but was left stranded. Nashville picked up a run to extend their lead to 3-1.

In the top of the 4th, Bailey Miller had a 1-out double. Miller scored on Natalie Hargrave’s RBI double. Hargrave scored on Presley Reep’s RBI double. Warren tied the game 3-3. Nashville was unable to put any runs on the scoreboard.

Warren was unable to score in the 5th. Nashville broke the game open with 4 runs to take a 7-3 lead.

The Lady Jacks got base runners on in the 6th inning, Bailey Miller and Blythe Calloway each had a hit but Warren left them stranded. Nashville scored 3 more runs to increase their lead to 10-3.

Breize Fellows led off the top of the 7th; however, the Lady Jacks were unable to make a comeback.

Nashville takes the victory over Warren 10-3.

Despite their youth, this Lady Jack Softball Team had a great season. The team consisted of Sophomores Ember Johnson, Charlee Wardlaw, and Paige Byrd, and Freshmen Breize Fellows, Haven Johnson, Bailey Miller, Livi McKinney, Raeleigh Milton, Natalie Hargrave, Presley Reep, Blythe Calloway, and Ava Denton.

On a personal note, it has been a pleasure to cover this team this season.
