Quorum Court appropriates more funding for solid waste

The Bradley County Quorum Court met for their final meeting of 2022 Monday, December 19. Regular reports were presented for Court approval, including the treasure and the sheriff’s reports. The Court also received a monthly update from the Bradley County Medical Center. Marilyn Johnson told the Justices that utilization of the Hospital is up due to an increase in flu cases and other sickness. She indicated staff numbers are holding their own.

Judge McKinney provided an update on planning for the new county building to be constructed on Smith Road. He indicated the planning and design phase is moving forward.

The Quorum Court then adopted ordinance 778 to set the 2023 budget which included a 2.5 percent pay raise as well as hourly rate increases up to $15.00 per hour for several employees such as CDL drivers. The budget takes effect January 1, 2023.

The Justices then adopted ordinance 779 appropriating an increase in expenditures for solid waste for the 2022 budget. This is not a rate increase but appropriating other county funds for the current 2022 budget.

Judge McKinney told the Court the bell tower is back up and lacks around 2-3 weeks work to be totally completed. He stated this has been a long time to complete project, but is getting close to being 100% finished.
