YMCA holds reception honoring outgoing Executive Director David Richey

Friends and family gathered together Monday to say adieu to Donald W. Reynolds YMCA of Warren and Bradley County Executive Director David Richey.

A reception was hosted by board members and staff. Richey is leaving to become the pastor of First Baptist Church of Rector.

He recently served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Warren from 2019 to September 2022. He was the pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church from 2008 to 2015.

Richey has served as executive director of the YMCA from September 2015 to the present.

His family includes his wife, Liz; children, Caleb, married to Allie, with grandson, Bjorn; Micah, married to Starr, with grandson, Wyatt; Hannah, who will marry Hayden Lassiter on Dec. 31; and Isaac.

He said COVID shut down the YMCA for two months but the facility has grown since then, especially with a weight room expansion.

“We’ve had a great staff and a great board. It made all the difference,” he said.

Board Chairman Ricky O’Neill presented Richey with a plaque of appreciation.
