Six Jacks on the board as Warren picks up valuable road Conference win at Crossett

CROSSETT, Ark. – Friday night, January 10, 2023 the Warren Lumberjacks picked up a huge road and first Conference 8-4A win of the season defeating the Crossett Eagles 63-51 in front of a boisterous Crossett crowd.

After two close losses last week to open Conference play at Monticello and Stuttgart, Tuesday night’s game at Crossett had the feeling of an almost must-win for a Warren squad that’s talent hasn’t necessarily been reflected in their record to-date.

Warren came firing out of the gate opening up a five point advantage after the first quarter as they led Crossett 16-11. Three Lumberjacks delivered first period threes, including Malik Day, Jayden Ridgell, and Antonio Jordan.

While the scoring wasn’t as disperses as the Jacks would prefer, they managed to extend their lead to eight by the midway point at 31-23. Points from Jordan and Jordyn Ingram were contributed to the cause in the second period.

A tight battle in the third and early portion of the fourth quarters was seen out by the orange and black. Crossett came as close as two, but Warren pushed on accelerator in the final minutes, finishing off the Eagles by the final of 63-51.

Sophomore Antonio Jordan cemented his fourth double-double in a row. The multi-sport Lumberjack scored 33 in Tuesday’s ballgame, managing another ten rebounds.

Warren’s success against Crossett however was down to upped contributions from elsewhere on the roster. Jordyn Ingram and Neon’dre Thomas each posted eight points.

Malik Day and Jadyen Ridgell each hit two three a piece to total six points per player.

Jalin Lee put in his normal high intensity defense, but the senior also knocked down a couple of free-throws to help put the game away in the fourth.

Thomas and Lee also posted six rebounds each on the night.

The win moves the Lumberjacks to 3-5 on the season. With an 8-4A record of 1-2, Warren’s men now have a chance to go to .500 if they can capture a second road win Friday when they travel to take on Star City. That game will tip off immediately following the girls game which starts at 5:30 p.m.
