Re-New-ing Edinburg: Community Updates and Upcoming Events

Vice-President Roger McClellan called the meeting to order.  Minutes of the March meeting were previously emailed and passed out to those in attendance.  Motion was made by Linda Waldrop, seconded by Shelia Towery, to accept the minutes as presented.  Motion passed.

Linda Hornaday, Treasurer, passed out the financial statement and gave a brief report.  With no questions or corrections, it will be filed for audit.

Roger McClellan informed the group that he has several brick requests forms and he will be placing a brick order next month.   He encouraged those present to contact anyone who may be wishing to purchase a brick immediately in order to get their bricks purchased now.

A general discussion was held concerning the Easter Egg hunt and everyone deemed it was a success.  All the kids and parents enjoyed the snow cones, cupcake walk, egg relay, bubbles and hunting eggs.  Quite a few eggs were returned and can be used next year.  It was suggested that next year we contact local churches and see if youth members were willing to assist with the games,

Re-New-ing Edinburg is currently participating in the Great American cleanup though May 31, therefore, the community is encouraged to cleanup the area around their property.  Spring flowers have been planted in the flower boxes throughout town plus the public areas have been mowed, weed-eated and treated for ants.  Motion was made and seconded to reimburse Patricia McClellan for $60 of ant poison which will be used throughout the town in public places.  Motion passed.

Re-New-ing Edinburg’s game night is scheduled for Friday, April 28 at 6 p.m. at the New Edinburg Community Center.  There is no charge to attend the game night and the community is encouraged to bring sandwiches, chip and dip or deserts plus their favorite game to play.

The New Edinburg All School Reunion is scheduled for July 8 at the community center.  The Golden Girl’s Restaurant will be providing a catered lunch meal and tickets for the luncheon will be for sale shortly.  Students, teachers and friends are encouraged to attend and several items will be available to raffle to help cover the cost of the event.

Motion was made and seconded to adjourn.  Motion passed.  The next meeting will be held May 16 at 6 p.m.
