Portion of Main Street closed earlier than anticipated due to concerns that western wall of the Ederington Building is moving

A portion of Main Street from Cedar to Cypress is being closed earlier than expected today, Tuesday, May 2, 2023 over concerns that the western wall of the old Ederington Building is already moving.

Saline River Chronicle is told that crews working to prepare the sight for the planned demolition to start Wednesday, have felt the building shaking as heavy equipment moved sand around the structures to protect the brick streets.

As of Tuesday, no pedestrian traffic is allowed to the west of the Ederington building in front of First State Bank. People that are banking at First State Bank may still use other entrances.

Plans remain the same for the demolition start on Wednesday. The following streets will be closed to vehicle traffic:

  • Cedar from Main to the Warren Bank drive-thru(drive-thru remaining open)
  • Cypress from Main to the Warren Bank drive-thru(drive-thru remaining open)
  • Main Street from First Street to Church(Southbound traffic to the Gannaway Drug drive-thru remaining open)This closure is likely to be a short closure until the western portion of the block is complete.

  1. I warned everyone the buildings were going to be Angry.. prayers for everyone’s safety.

  2. I am sad to see the end of the Ederington building after all these years. I had many good days working there while in high school. I remember seeing the owner with his big cowboy hat. It’s like a part of Warren is dying. Time marches on. Many happy memories of my work days.
