Property Planning Committee asking the public for input on future of downtown lot

Press release from the Property Planning Committe:

Almost one year has elapsed since the demolition of the structurally unstable buildings across from the Bradley County Courthouse and much has taken place during that time. Much debate regarding the future of the property ensued prior to and following the removal of the debris from the location. The Property Planning Committee, assembled by Judge Klay McKinney to serve as a taskforce to determine a prospective repurposing of the purchased property to the south of the courthouse, began having monthly meetings which yielded on overall desire to solicit input from the county’s citizens regarding potential uses for the property. This led the committee to collaborate with Mrs. Payton Reep and her students from EAST Lab at Warren High School. These outstanding students created an online survey as a vehicle for Bradley County citizens to express their desires regarding potential future infrastructure on the property. The survey was launched in the latter months of 2023. The committee members and EAST students met on January 9, 2024 to discuss the compiled survey results.

The survey results revealed that the preferred choice of the citizens who responded to was for the property to be used for some type of entertainment purpose. After some discussion, the group agreed that a subsequent survey should be launched to present the top suggested options for entertainment uses to give county citizens the opportunity to participate in the final determination for the property use. The EAST students will soon be launching the follow up survey which will be announced. Look for it on the Bradley County Facebook page, Saline River Chronicle, and the Warren High School sports live feed events. Even if you did not participate in the initial survey, we encourage you to participate now. Use your voice as a participant in the next chapter of Bradley County history!
