Residential garbage pickup forced to be delayed till Monday in Warren

In a Thursday statement to Saline River Chronicle, Warren Mayor Gregg Reep addressed the challenges the City is currently facing in terms of residential garbage pickup. Due to icy conditions on the streets, the City has been forced to postpone trash collection until Monday.

Mayor Reep acknowledged the efforts of the City’s street crews, highlighting the progress made in improving road conditions. However, he emphasized that the rate of ice melt has not cooperated with the City’s hopes.

“While our street crews are working diligently to address the issues on the roads, unfortunately, the ice melt is not happening as rapidly as we had hoped,” Mayor Reep stated.

Originally planning to catch up on garbage pickup on Friday and Saturday, the City has had to reconsider its approach due to unfavorable road conditions. Mayor Reep confirmed that the regular residential trash pickup schedule is planned resume on Monday, with crews returning to their normal routes.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause, and we sincerely ask everyone to be patient during this time. The safety of our sanitation workers is our top priority, and the conditions have been too dangerous for them to operate efficiently,” Mayor Reep urged residents.

City street crews continue to actively engage in efforts to improve road conditions, but the challenge persists due to the need for additional ice and snow melt. The City administration is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to providing a safe environment for both residents and City workers.

As the City of Warren navigates these weather-related challenges, Mayor Reep reassured the community that every effort is being made to ensure a swift return to normalcy in garbage pickup schedules.
