David Wayne Reaves, aged 78, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, passed away on April 2, 2024 in Star City, AR. Born on January 20, 1946, in Warren, Arkansas, David was known for his playful banter, constant sense of humor, and sound wisdom. Under his senior photo in his high school yearbook is written “Red hair, ready wit, our David will always be a hit!” He was a dedicated reader and thinker and had a heart for people who were often overlooked. He knew himself well and navigated things on his own terms. He enjoyed a vibrant life filled with grandchildren, hard work, family, and church activities. He was a deeply committed Razorback fan and wouldn’t miss watching or listening to Arkansas football, baseball or basketball.
David worked in industrial management in both Arkansas and South Carolina. He was an active member of the Macedonian Missionary Service Builders. He helped to build churches in Washington, Nevada and Colorado. In retirement he worked for South Central Arkansas Transit, driving people who could not drive themselves. He has been a participating member of 2nd Baptist Church of Arkadelphia since 2013. In his younger years he loved to spend time deer hunting with friends. In retirement he enjoyed fishing on Lake DeGray, spending time with his wife Pam, watching his grandsons play baseball and seeing his granddaughters cheer. He adored his grandchildren. He often said that he didn’t deserve his family. He loved them dearly. His only child, Amy, became his full-time care-giver during his illness and the two of them spent a sweet last year together.
David is survived by his wife of 23 years, Pam Reynolds Reaves, daughter, Amy Reaves Harmon; son-in-law, Brady Harmon both of Star City; grandchildren, Sam Reed, Mary Claire Reed, Olivia Reed, and Ben Harmon; and sister, Ruth Reaves Rodgers and spouse David of Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Wayne Reaves; mother, Mary Dorine Garner Reaves; and sisters, Brenda Faye Reaves and Mary Lynn Reaves.
David’s burial was held at the Oakland Cemetery on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in Warren, Arkansas, with graveside service arranged by Frazer’s Funeral Home. David’s legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to his community will be cherished by all who knew him.
