Excitement builds for upcoming New Edinburg All School Reunion

The following are the full minutes from the April 17, 2024 Re-New-ing Edinburg monthly meeting:

Roger McClellan, President, welcomed those in attendance and called the meeting to order.  The minutes of the March meeting were previously emailed to members but also passed out to those in attendance.  Motion was made by Linda Hornaday, seconded by Luis Tolano, to accept minutes as presented.   Motion passed.

Linda Hornaday, Treasurer, presented the financial statement and with no corrections or additions, it will be filed for audit.

Discussion for the meeting basically centered around the New Edinburg All School reunion which is once again sponsored by Re-New-ing Edinburg and will be held from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on April 27 at the NE community center.  Members volunteered for decorating, parking, table set up, name tag preparation etc.  The event is being catered by Dorey’s Catfish Company with meal tickets costing $15 each.  Everyone wishing to each lunch at the event should purchase a ticket.    Motion was made and seconded to begin table setup and decorating at 10 a.m. Friday and to meet at 9 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the event.  Motion passed.  Motion was made by David Kemp, seconded by Patricia McClellan, to purchase two cases of water for the event even though Dorey’s will provide drinks for lunch.  Motion passed.

Motion was made by Patricia McClellan, seconded by Linda Hornaday, to reimburse Kathy Waldrop $208.46 for decorations and table clothes for the All-School Reunion and to pay the NE community center $200 for the use of the facility for the reunion.  Motion passed.

Members are reminded to complete their trash pickup as a participant in the Great American Cleanup which will continue until the end of April.  The area around the New Edinburg School has also been mowed and cleaned up as a part of the event.  T-shirts and trash bags were passed out to additional members wishing to participate.

Everyone in attendance agreed the Easter Egg hunt was a great success and was enjoyed by everyone who attended or volunteered.  Game night held on Friday, April 12, was also another successful event.  Motion was made by Martha Tolano, seconded by Patricia McClellan, to reimburse the community center $100 each time a game night was scheduled at the community center.  Motion passed.  

Patricia McClellan informed the group that one of the handles at the top of the stairs on the play house at the community center was broken and she had purchased replacement handles for a cost of $34.00.  Motion was made and seconded to reimburse her for the cost of the handles.  Roger McClellan has already replaced the broken one plus traded out the second one since handles are purchased in pairs.
Motion was made and seconded to adjourn.  Motion passed.  The next meeting will be held May 21st at 6 pm.
